Bold, bright and distinctive, his graphic language is instantly recognisable. His visual approach goes deeper than just a surface of colour, drawing on the motifs and meanings of West African textiles to blend his cultural heritage and influences with contemporary urban life. The ideas of community, welcoming, celebration, and dialogue are addressed using graphics, patterns, and colours that are not only aesthetic but a 'way of starting a conversation'. Ilori's work also explores research and ideas about happiness. 

Ilori's first memories of patterns and colors came from the vibrant fabrics  his family wore at weddings and church services. He remembers his grandmother's bold and bright outfits, affectionately calling her "the true queen of color". The layers of story and meaning contained within each pattern shape Irori's own work, often weaving intricate narratives of culture, history, commerce and identity. Ilori’s perspective on the city he lives in is also a call to action. London is such a diverse city but it is not reflected in the buildings. Applying his distinctive visual language across urban environments, he uses colour and a sense of joy to make everyone feel welcome. His interventions invite us to revalue the under loved parts of this city

In addition to his own work, Ilori’s studio has objects that inspire him and his team. His Nigerian roots have greatly influenced his work, as has his experience living in a multicultural London estate. He fuses these elements to  design objects that tell stories and are imbued with collective memory. 

At the exhibition one can discover 100 objects, ranging from artwork, photography and furniture to textiles, books and personal belongings, to absorb cultural influences and represent a rich mix of London identities. provides unprecedented insight into Ilori’s use of the power of design.

During the performance, people seek the blessings of Theekkuttichathan and offer him sacrifices and gifts in exchange for his protection and blessings. The Theekkuttichathan Theyyam is also believed to have the power to heal people of illnesses and diseases.

The Theekkuttichathan Theyyam is an important part of the cultural and religious heritage of the region, and it is celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervor. It is a unique form of Theyyam that is cherished by the local community and has gained popularity among tourists who visit the region to experience the rich cultural traditions of Kerala.
