While women's husbands were in the war, they were at home with their children. The husbands didnt alwys come back . Women were left to take on jobs such as nurses, farmers and many others.

One woman, Deborah Samson, disguised herself as a man to fight in the war. This took place in June or July 1782. She was a brave woman at the time for defending what she believed in.

Many workers played a significant role in supporting the Revolutionary War. Many workers were involved in crafting weapons and supplies as craftsmen. Also helping maintain the farms. Many workers also had to make supplies for the soldiers and for the war in general. Paul Revere was a well-known silversmith during the time of the war. He was an extremely important messenger during that time.

A certain woman Betsey Butler was a washerwoman who also helped enslaved people escape to Pennsylvania for freedom. Betsey Butler is pretty much established as a model of what is now known as an underground railroad. She was a kind, brave, women and worker.

Their charge to the British fought hard throughout the period helping general Washingtons retreat going the nickname The old line state. There were many important people during that time including Colonel William Smallwood, Thomas Woodford, Josiah Carville Hall.

Nephew of captain Charles Ridgley and was raised by him 1760 - 1829. A bgovernor of Maryland 1815 - 1818 and a general in the war known as general Ridgley. As second owner of Hampton. He increased it giving it agricultural acreage and iron works. Marrying a women named pricilla Dorsey Ridgely having 14 children 11 survived to adulthood.

Until early in 1778 the conflict was a civil war within the British Empire, but afterward it became an international war as France (in 1778) and Spain (in 1779) joined the colonies against Britain.
