Gender equality in access to education in Africa is the topic of this research. Onsongo (2011) cites access to education by girls and women and the social perception of those seeking further education as main obstacles in educational development.
The goal of this research is to:

1. Interpret whether access to education for girls and women is connected to social structures or role structures. The approach I would take in researching this topic is constructivist. The girls and women exposed to gender inequality and a lack of access to education are experiencing this in a real world context.

2. Identify possible responses to gender inequality in education for girls and women through policy or social means.

3. Collect data on the direct impact of a lack of acces to education on women and girls.
