He explains that war provokes complex emotions in soldiers because of the mix of positive and negative experiences, whereas the war story by Albom focuses on the horrific, traumatic memories.

The short story by O'Brien focuses on a wider range of emotions. O'Brien shows the good times the soldiers had together however also touches upon the negative aspects of the war. On the other hand, Albom focuses more on the fear and guilt of his war story.

The change in audience differentiates the passages.

Eddie's story of war was about how he was miserable in a POW camp for a long time and he never noticed the sacrifices made for he and the rest of the soldiers with him. O'Brien's story is about the truth of war and how it is not perceived correctly. Eddie was the one who had fault in his perception in his story but in O'Brien's, it was everyone else with the misconception of reality.

In the passage, O'Brien states that a true war story should never leave someone uplifted. In my opinion the war in the novel ends with an uplifting lesson. Also in the passage, it states that when in war when a man dies soldiers look away. In the novel Eddie and the prisons did watch as their friend was shot in the head.

Although the troops in ¨How To Tell A True War Story¨ seem to be pretty close to each other it seems that the bond between Eddie´s friends seems more connected when having to deal with worse situations rather than having the privilege to stay in the same group of people. But this is only one Example of what Both Writers have to provide. ¨The Five People You Meet In Heaven¨ Mainly focuses on the melancholy moments of war whereas Tim O´ Brien´s passage mainly focuses on pivotal points of the war, as well as a variety of emotions that are mentioned in the passage.
