         <description><![CDATA[<p>One of the biggest takeaways from the resources was that it’s essential to have a self care plan as a practicing counselor. If you don’t have one it will lead to the burnout or secondary trauma. This is something that I have been trying to manage since I have been through undergrad. I have always had a busy schedule due to being an athlete, working full time, and being a full time student. </p>]]></description>

Assisting others can be emotionally draining on someone, if you don't take deliberate care of yourself, it's simple to take on the burden of other people's hardships on top of your own. As a member of an intellectual and cultural community that frequently emphasizes fortitude and tenacity, I've come to understand that taking time to recover and relax is an act of sustainability and resistance rather than weakness. I can completely present myself and the people I want to support when I take care of myself.</p>]]></description>
