I predict that there would be less food for all animals in the food web if the producers were reduced by half in the Puente Hills Ecosystem. For example, Animals that eat those producers would have less food, leading them to die. The consumers that ate those primary consumers would now have less to eat since their main sources of food have died off. This pattern follows through all the consumers, leading up to the apex predators.
Not only can this chain affect animals, but it can also affect us, humankind. The lack of animals and plants can also offset our regular diets. Yet, finally, since many animals have died, decomposers can return many nutrients to the soil, giving many plants the opportunity to regrow and restart the circle of life. In conclusion, reducing the amount of producers by half could drastically change the environment and can affect all organisms in it. Decomposers become very important in this scenario because they have the power to restart the cycle and over time can reset all damage.

Impact to Ecosystem if Energy Pyramid was Altered

My claim is that the energy is therefor cut in half and there will be very catastrophic and the animals that eat only the plants will die and it will be very hard for every animal to adapt. The consumers that ate the producers that disappeared will die and the consumer that eat the primary consumer that eats the producer will have less animals to eat and it would be very unbalanced and there will be many death. The energy transfer is disrupted by the loss of these animals say the California Buckwheat died off, the Botta's Pocket Gopher will be hungry and some may die off causing it to be less food for the Western rattle snake causing it to die as well and the Bobcat that eats the rattlesnake will start dying and everything will be in disorder. The lack of animals will affect breeding time and less animals would reproduce. The decomposers would have little to eat and the whole pyramid would fall. The whole web is disturbed by those producers that are gone. Proving that each part is important in the pyramid no matter how big or how small and that if you disrupt the pyramid by taking half of the producers will cause it to fall one way or another. The animals will find it hard to adapt and that everything will be different till they manage to find a way to adapt.

If the producers in Puente Hills are reduced by half, organisms would die. For example, the primary consumers, which is the herbivores, eats the producers to get energy. If the producers decrease in population, not as many herbivores can get energy so they die. When the herbivores die, the secondary consumers would die too. If the energy pyramid is cut in half, there won't be enough energy for the organisms to share. For example, at the bottom of the food chain, which is the producers, originally has 100% energy. When the energy is transferred, and is going up the energy pyramid, only 10% of the energy is transferred from the previous animal. However, if the producers are already cut down by half, then that means that there's only 50% that has to be transferred . Obviously, not all the animals will get enough energy. It will also affect us humans too. Plants do photosynthesis and creates oxygen which we breathe in. Whit half of the plants cut down, not as many oxygen will be produced and there will be more carbon dioxide.Every organism including humans all share the oxygen in the air, that means oxygen will run out more quickly Without that many oxygen, animals could even die of need of oxygen. It goes like a chain, linking one another. Once all of the population decrease, decomposers will have little to eat too. The same thing will happen if some other part of the pyramid also decrease in population.
