When textbooks &amp; assignments use the vocab &amp; students do not know or understand the words, then they do not have success or do not respond. Understanding spoken and written language - including math vocabulary, story problems, and conceptual explanations - needed support. Producing viable arguments using both words and symbols was involved. As a TOSA, I learned so much about language that I wish I’d known for supporting students with academic language.</div>]]></description>

That can create barriers. Using digital tools is one way we can bridge the connection between school and students home language.
