         <description><![CDATA[<p><a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://taxation-customs.ec.europa.eu/carbon-border-adjustment-mechanism_en"><strong>Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM):</strong></a></p><p>The objective of the CBAM is to prevent the EU's efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from being offset by increasing emissions outside its borders through relocation of production to non-EU countries or increased imports of carbon-intensive products.</p><p>CBAM will apply in its definitive regime from 2026, while the current transitional phase lasts between 2023 and 2025.</p><p>The CBAM applies to imports of certain carbon-intensive goods into the EU, like Iron and steel, Cement, Aluminum, Electricity, or Fertilizers. Importers into the EU will need to purchase carbon certificates corresponding to the carbon emissions that would have been generated if the goods were produced under the EU's Emissions Trading System (EU ETS).</p><p><br></p>]]></description>
