- Circle back: to return to a topic or a task at a later time. It's often used in a professional or meeting context to postpone a discussion or follow up on something. "Let's not get into the budget details right now. We'll circle back to this in our next meeting."

- Land the plane: to successfully conclude a difficult, lengthy, or complex process. It implies bringing a project or negotiation to a successful close after navigating many challenges. "The negotiation was tough, but after months of discussion, we finally landed the plane and signed the contract."

- Burn the candle at both ends: to work or live excessively hard, from early morning until late at night. This idiom describes a lifestyle that is draining and unsustainable, often leading to exhaustion and burnout. "She's been burning the candle at both ends studying for her exams and working a full-time job. I'm worried she's going to get sick."

- Touch base: get in touch with someone

- Pick your brain: Ask someone for advice, get ideas from sb.

- Get granular: to examine or discuss something in great detail, focusing on the finer points and specific components rather than the general overview. It's often used in business or technical contexts. "Let's get granular on the budget and see where every dollar is going."

- Hammer things out: to work through and resolve a disagreement, a problem, or the details of a plan through a long and often difficult discussion or negotiation. It implies a process of hard work and persistence. "We had a few misunderstandings, but we met and hammered things out to find a solution we both could agree on."

- Put some chop in the water: “to stir things up” (cause disruption or activity where it was calm before). “to create resistance or difficulty” (so progress isn’t smooth).

"The negotiations were calm at first, but his sudden demands really put some chop in the water."

- Sharpen our pencils: to prepare for a difficult or detailed task, often involving calculations or fine-tuning a plan. It implies that you need to focus intensely, get down to business, and be precise. It's most commonly used in two main contexts:

Negotiations or Financial Work: When someone says they need to "sharpen their pencils" on a proposal, they mean they need to go back and find ways to lower the price or make their offer more competitive. It's a polite way of saying "your price is too high; give me a better deal." Example: "The client said our initial bid was too high, so we need to sharpen our pencils and come back with a more competitive offer."

Serious Work or Problem-Solving: It can also mean to prepare to think critically and meticulously about a complex problem. "Before the final review, the whole team will sharpen their pencils and check every detail of the report."

- 30,000 foot standpoint: to look at a situation from a very high level, without getting caught up in the details. It is more commonly referred to as a "30,000-foot view." "Let's step back and take a 30,000-foot standpoint of the project before we dive into the specific tasks."

- Square the circle: to attempt to do something that is impossible or to solve an unsolvable problem. "My boss is asking me to finish a week's worth of work in a single day. He's asking me to square the circle."

- To loop someone in: involve / include that person (or team) in the discussion/project/communication

- Have the dry powder: to have a reserve of cash or available funds that are ready to be used for a significant opportunity or to respond to a crisis. "The company isn't making any big acquisitions right now; they're saving their dry powder for the right moment."

- Have the adequate tailwind to disrupt the space: to have sufficient favorable conditions or advantages to fundamentally change and dominate a specific market or industry. "The recent shift to remote work gave many collaboration software companies the adequate tailwind to disrupt the space of traditional office communication."

-Marinate on sthg: need to take time to think about it / reflect before making a decision

- Put a pin in it: to temporarily set a topic aside for later discussion. It's used to acknowledge a point or idea but to postpone a detailed conversation about it until a more appropriate time. "Don't worry about that detail right now. Just put a pin in it and we'll address it during the next phase of the project."

- Circle the wagon: the phrase is a metaphor for a group—a family, a company, a political party—uniting and standing together in a defensive posture against criticism, competition, or a threat from outsiders. "After the product recall, the company's PR team had to circle the wagons and prepare a unified defense against public criticism."

- EOD: end of day (deadline)

- To do a level set: to bring everyone on a team or in a discussion to the same level of understanding and information. "Let's begin the meeting with a level set so everyone is up to date on our progress so far."
- Ping sb: send a quick message. "I'll ping you later on Slack to see if you have time to chat about the report."

- Get a pushback: to receive resistance, opposition, or a negative reaction to an idea, proposal, or action. "My idea to reorganize the department received a surprising amount of pushback from my colleagues."

- Have the bandwidth: to have the time, resources, or mental capacity to handle a task or a new responsibility. "I'm sorry, I don't have the bandwidth to take on that new project right now. My schedule is completely full."

- Move the needle forward: to make a noticeable or significant impact on a situation, project, or goal. "Hiring another engineer will help us move the needle forward and finish the project ahead of schedule."

- Boots on the ground: People directly involved in an activity or project: We need boots on the ground in Brazil to really understand how the market operates there.

- Peel back the onion: Examine something in detail, layer by layer: If we peel back the onion on our sales decline, we’ll see it’s not just pricing, it’s also distribution and customer service.

- Elephant in the (living) room: An obvious issue no one wants to discuss: We kept talking about productivity, but the elephant in the room was the lack of clear leadership.

- Paradigm shift: A fundamental change in approach or assumptions: The adoption of AI in engineering is creating a paradigm shift in how we design and manufacture products.

- Low hanging fruit: the easiest goals to achieve or the most obvious problems to solve. It's a task that requires minimal effort and promises a quick, often significant, result: Before we try to expand globally, let’s focus on the low hanging fruit of improving our local market share.

- Value add: Something that increases worth or benefit: Offering free training sessions to clients is a real value add that sets us apart from competitors.

- Seal the deal: Finalize an agreement: After weeks of negotiation, the CEO’s visit helped seal the deal with the investors.

- Gather the troops: Assemble a team

Let’s gather the troops for a quick meeting before the presentation.
