If it's under $100, it would be a better deal to get the $20 off. Anything over $100, the best deal is 20% off. Since my mom and I always joke about getting a 75 inch tv, I would go with the 20% off. The tv costs ONLY $950. $20 off would make it $930. It's a much better deal to go with 20% off because the cost of the tv would be $760.     Both of the equations are accomplishing the same goal. It's showing how you can get the answer by either using fractions and multiplying and division with a whole number.
