         <description><![CDATA[<div>I implement the ISTE student standards in a few different ways, although I am excited now to find new ways to do so. For example, with respect to the Creative Communicator, I have utilized a few different simulations, Mike's Bikes for one, that require students to work in teams to run fictitious companies that manufacture, market, and sell bicycles. Also, I ask my students to be Computational Thinkers while they complete a group project performing research on 3 companies and completing a benchmark analysis utilizing Microsoft Excel.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I implement the ISTE teacher standards in a few different ways, but again I am excited to learn new ways of implementation. Currently, I promote and model digital citizenship and responsibility through my use of proper digital etiquette and appropriate social interactions in the discussion forums of the online classes that I teach. Also, I am engaging in professional growth and leadership by enrolling in the JHU Master of Education Digital Age Learning and Educational Technology program so that I can explore new and better applications of technology that will certainly lead to enhanced student learning!</div>]]></description>

         <title>Reflection of Learning Theory That Excited Me</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>As I begin my 14th year teaching college students, I must admit that I am tired, frustrated, and even a bit bored. Reviewing and selecting textbooks, developing curriculum, designing assessment measures, and tweaking presentation materials again and again has taken a toll.   However, when I read the various learning theories and started to conceptualize my role as more of a facilitator and guide and less of a lecturer and assessor, I found new energy and passion.  I look forward to utilizing and leveraging technology to develop content for and with my students as we share and learn together. </div>]]></description>

We are blessed with three great kids - Owen (age 14, 9th grade), Griffin (age 12, 7th grade), and Audrey (age 9, 4th grade).    We love to travel and this past summer we enjoyed 3 weeks in Europe visiting England, France, Italy, Greece, Croatia, and Montenegro.  </div>]]></description>
