- This is my first exposure to an official market research agency and start understanding the process of conducting a survey.

- Today I am doing Project Brutus which is from Amanah Saham National Berhad (ASNB).
- I am given a test link to go through three languages of survey forms.
- Lastly before I go back home, I was tested by another supervisor, Ms. Gia. The purpose of testing is to check whether I am qualified to make an actual phone call survey.

- Finally I can start doing phone survey. And I only get two total completions for the whole day.
- Even the script is prepared and I just have to read whatever is written, but I realize there are still a lot of uncertain situations pop-up.
- I have to solve those problems and I list a bundle of information which I have to familiar with it before I start making calls.

- Today I am allowed to look forward the information I needed for example the products offered by ASNB, to differ the color of account book, the current activities conducted by ASNB and etc.
- Today I only make two completion just as yesterday which make me felt disappointed.
- However, it meets my lowest hope which I could complete at least one survey per day.
- I finally have my own code as the photo showed below.
- Duty schedule had pasted on the signboard.

- After I called for few days, I realize emotion management is also part of my training.
- This is because there are some bad treats from customers due to misunderstanding. We as a phone surveyor have to remain in polite manner to end call.
- People nowadays are more alert on scam calls which affect the most on market research company even we are third vendor party accredited by ASNB.

- Today I start doing QC (Quality checking).
- QC is another important part of survey, which we downloaded back the whole completed recording and checking the information.
- This is the time how we train our listening skill in three languages.
- We have to make sure every information picked is correct as they said in the phone.

- Stay focus and keep questioning, Do not interrupt when customers are trying to speak.

- My supervisor told that the previous used website had blocked, and have to start using a new website to design survey.

- Today is my biggest challenge due to I am appointed by my supervisor to find a software which can make translation. (Msgstr & Msgrid format translation)
- Finally I found one software named POedit which can run translation in Survey Monkey.
- It consumes me the whole day to figure how does it function and I was only able to translate Malay version for today.
- What a big success I have achieved even my supervisor panicked on this issue!

- I have been told by supervisor to export the data from Microsoft Excel to SPSS.
- Lastly, form presentation slides using PowerPoint to present those data analyzed.

- I have to form an official survey form for KIA Motors using a paid Survey Monkey account.
- But what I realize is the paid account is not including the multilingual function which mean I have to use the old school method -- 3 translations in a survey form.
- Quite a waste when I had learnt how to use POedit to do my translations but the function is not included.
- 3 translations in a page makes the page messy indeed. The photo showed the result.

- This is my first time to conduct overseas project mainly in China region.
- It is hard for me because there are big differences in ascent and pronunciation no matter using English or Mandarin.
- It is challenging and I am enjoying with those calls.

- Fliers distribution is the method offered by Ms. Ashley, then we start to design it.
- Luckily we still have enough time to go outside and distribute the fliers. But face to face conversation is preferable.
- Another good experience when I am exposed to outfield rather just working inside the office.

- I just fall into a critical situation same goes to my colleagues.
- The Project Monster yet not finalized by client but we have to start before the finalization.
- Errors are there, and we were asked to proceed whatever is possible.
- A survey took nearly 1 hour to finish and without cash reward for respondent, I do not think this is reasonable and applicable on phone call survey.
- A phone survey should keep Keep It Short & Simple (KISS) Principle as the main objective.

- The whole day busy on calling the Honda car owner. But the result does not seem good due to the time consumed for the whole survey.
- We are then try to figure the solution for the time issue. Finally I come out with the suggestion that not to mention the time.
- Conducting survey in any convenient time according to respondent. But not forcing them to finish in one-shot call.
- We as the surveyor must try to understand the situation of respondent. They are working at the moment and unable to complete the survey with me in one hour time.

- But there is a problem when management team listened back to the recording, they realize that there are some interviewers are giving wrong information about the survey.
- To overcome this problem, we have made an description list for certain features listed inside the survey.
- Now only I realize we have to familiar not only with the survey but also the contents (features mentioned).

- Most of us already frustrated on this project, due to we realize we cannot achieve the sample size on time.
- But the situation change after Ms. Ashley made us a short discussion during evening.
- Every success come with a target, without a clear mindset for what to achieve, it would not be succeed.
- A big push from supervisor is quite useful, she wants us made at least a complete call per day.

- It takes few hours to fix, while my team were finding the respondents for focus group survey.

- It shocks me when my supervisor today is the deadline of Project Monster but I have not hit the sample size needed.
- Luckily I still can continue next week due to there is no response from client.

- Every interns are told to have overtime (OT) session for today due to the extended deadline submission for Project Monster on coming Wednesday.
- It should be fine for me until I realize there is no one stay for the overtime session. I am shocked why overtime cancels in sudden without noticing me.
- I feel depressed when there is neither someone nor the supervisors notice me about the cancellation of overtime, however I have been working for 2 extra hours.

- But I realize that the list actually was done called by another company named Cyras which mean we just repeating the calls.
- We can get few numbers of completions from there, but we also received the complaints about we keep bothering their working timeas well.
- Another 20 completions to go, fighting!

- Task today is hard, when you have to make the attempt up to 4 or 5 times.
- The thing to worry is about the temper of respondent we called, they might feel annoyed when we keep calling them, however, we have no choice and follow according what had been told.
- Luckily, I can complete one survey at the last. I have completed 16 surveys in total out of 100 sample size needed.

- Right before I finish work, I had been called by Ms. Olivia regarding another outfield project which is located in Brunei.
- I accepts the challenge. I think this might be the most fabulous experience I ever have for my internship period.

- Today is my business trip to Brunei assigned by my supervisor, Ms. Olivia.
- Early in the morning around 4am already heading to Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
- Once we reach, we are moving to KIA Motors Showroom Jalan Beribi and working onward.
- We have no weekend holidays here, start working from 8.30am to 8pm. Luckily, we manage to take a small tour around the rural area with boat. It is quite a nice experience ever in Brunei.
- This is an emergency project which we are far behind from actual progress, but under Ms. Olivia's and Ms. Nicole's leading, we manage to complete within the time given.
- After a great job pay with nice foods from our client. The night before we come back Malaysia, client named Ms. Abbie treat us in Kaizen Restaurant.
- In overall, I have a wonderful business trip experience with ISG in Brunei.

- Yesterday was my replacement day for Labor Day.
- Today is my first day coming back ISG office after the Brunei trip.
- What so funny when I realize that Kuala Lumpur also conducting the same project as in Brunei and having almost the same questionnaire format.
- The Brunei team already familiar with the questionnaire and we perform very well also. Each person can completed 6 surveys in average.
- There are three colleagues will finish their internship today, so we have a farewell party for them. Our supervisor also treat us with Pizza-hut and also Texas Chicken.

- Today is the first day of Ramadan month, which means Malays will finish their work at 5.30pm.
- I have been appointed by Ms. Rachel to guide 3 newbies for this project, they are 2 part timers and 1 intern candid.
- This is the multitasking work when I have to make call while I am guiding the new incomers.
- At last, I am able to complete 3 surveys out of 6 in total target respondents completed.

- There are only 3 persons including me who are calling for KIA Aftersale Customer Satisfaction survey. While the rest handling KIA Sale Customer Satisfaction survey.
- It seems my group lack of human power to conduct, and I am nervous whether I am capable to finish the project within the time.
- This is because the KACS is complicated due to the skips logic inside. That is why all of the part timers and new interns responsible just for KSCS project.

- Today is my bad day. The list I got for today is KIA Carnival. Most of my list is not answering my call or voicemail.
- Even they answer my call, but they drop my call halfway the survey due the time consumed too long (but it normally takes around 15 minutes, is it too long?) I do not think so, because the previous project even longer ( Minimum 45 minutes).
- Right before I finish my working time, I only did 5 completions and every interns been told to have extra working session for coming this Saturday. Wossshhhh~

- Once I try competitors, I realized it is more complicated and difficult. This is because the respondent database we got is not eligible, we need to verify them every time.
- Moreover, most of the people they are not willing to answer when they are not familiar with our company, they just drop call.
- Another challenge is waiting for me.

- We are panic on getting the sample size respondents. Even we have to get our friends into this survey.
- No extra payment for finding own friends, some more we have to add those respondents individually into WhatsApp group. ><

- When there is a project which involving the competitor of your client, I only can comment 'your bad luck'
- Today is my bad day, I am doing the competitor for KIA Motor. The respondent list actually got from the social groups, and it is illegal method.
- However, there is a respondent who angry on me and asking why keep bothering him, where do I get his number and etc.
- I am been scolded by him for almost 10 minutes, and he challenges me and says that he will post our recording to social platform.
- I have nothing to scare, I just did what I been told to do. But what is unfair that I have to go through the problem.

- Today we have a big 'gotong-royong' in office.
- I am the only one male in office, which means I have to handle most of the heavy stuffs.
- After that, I continue with my final report until the end of today.

- There is a new intern candid from First City UC. I was asked by supervisor to train the new colleague.
- At the meantime, I have to settle all documents and pack all my stuffs before I finish my industrial training.

Tuesday (4 June)

- Today is my last day in ISG. A very big thanks to ISG for giving me the opportunity to be one of the colleagues.
- I have no works but only my report. I print those leaving documents to my supervisor for evaluation. Teaching the newbie in SPSS and so on.
- Miss Olivia releases us at 5pm for understanding everyone is heading way back to hometown.
- Lastly, I get my industrial training certification from Miss Olivia.
