Most of the time it'll be a child or a teen. Sometimes they're taken as a group and not just as one. It takes a toll on the  economy, politics, and a culture. Some kids are taken by a parent and some are abducted and held for ransom. There is a lot that we, as a country are trying to do to stop it, but not everything works. Different things parents can do is have ID-like photos taken of your child every six months and have your child fingerprinted. Many local police departments sponsor fingerprinting programs. Keep your child's medial and dental records up to date. Parents should also make online safety a priority. The internet is a great tool but, it's a way for predators to stalk your child. Be aware of your child's internet activities and chat room "friends", and remind them to never give out personal information. Avoid posting identifying information or photos of your kid online. Parents can also set boundaries on where you allow your child to go. Supervise them in places like malls, movie theaters, public bathrooms, parks. AMBER stands for America's Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response and was created as a legacy to 9-year-old Amber Hagerman, who was kidnapped while riding her bicycle in Arlington, Texas, and then brutally murdered. Other states and communities soon set up their own AMBER plans as the idea was adopted across the nation. As of February 2017, a total of 868 children had been successfully recovered through the AMBER Alert system.

In the 19th century is when people started worrying. On July 1, 1874 two little boys were abducted in front of their family's mansion. It was the first kidnapping for ransom in the history of the United States. And it would be the major event of its kind until the Lindbergh baby kidnapping.

Why did it become an issue? 
- Kidnapping is a global and historical issues in America and other parts of the world. The good governments are trying to do as much as they can to ensure that the kidnappers are captured and punished.

There are many causes of kidnapping, among them are unemployment, Ransomed, Revenge, and even Parental arguments
