         <description><![CDATA[<div>1:We think that Anne  does live on through her diary.  We think this because  her word is still being passed on through generations and it teaches us the horrors of World War 2.<br>2:One passage we thought was important was passage 1.  In this text it talks about how paper is more patient than man, and how the diary is her best friend.  One question we had about the text was "How was the diary such a good friend to her?"  The conclusion we reached is that Anne loves her diary as her best friend despite the fact that it is made of cardboard and paper.<br>3:We remember the past through painful memories, and sometimes novels.  The diary excerpt has taught us that we can remember the past from a first person perspective.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>All these words relate to being held back, and the human ability to do something.  Another word that fits this category is outlaw.  Forbidden means, not allowed or banned.  Restrictions means the limitation or control of someone or something, or the state of being limited or restricted.  Sacrifices means to offer or kill as a religious sacrifice.  Another word that has the root strict is constrict.  The root strict helps because the word means to narrow something with pressure and strict means to draw tight.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1:This boy symbolizes the Jewish people and their bewilderment in the situation.  Wiesel choose to convey his point through symbolism to show a much larger point of view being that the boy represents the Jewish people.<br>2:One passage we thought was important was passage 2. This passage talks about how he is frightened that he does not have the right to represent the lost Jews. One question we have is what does the author mean by mutilated dreams? The conclusion we reaches is that he does not want to misinterpret the deads dreams and so he is frightened to speak for them.<br>3:The speech has taught us that we can remember the past as a unity, and work together to make it right.<br>  </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Purpose #1:In paragraph 2 his purpose is to speak and defend his dead people.  Some evidence for this is when the text states, "No one may speak for the dead, no one may interpret their mutilated dreams and visions.<br>Purpose #2:  In paragraph 5 his purpose is to pity the ones who did not help the Jews.  Some evidence for this is when the text states, "Who would allow such crimes to be committed?  How could the world remain silent? <br>Point of view:The authors point of view is in favor of the Jews, and Pity to nations that use violence to solve crimes.  Some evidence for this is when the text states, "...our survival has meaning for mankind."<br>1a: I think by this statement he means that if they forget what happened that they are betraying the dead and their own people.<br>1b: This statement reveals that his point of view favors the suffering to help them.<br>2: Wiesel's point of view on a humans responsibility and suffering is that they should share their life with the victims, and devote to them.  Some evidence for this is when the text states, "Wherever men or women are persecuted because of their race, religion, or political views, that place must-at the moment-become the center of the universe."<br>3 a: He responds to other view points on conflicts by comparing them to his views, and saying that violence is not the answer.<br>3 b: He uses aspects such as violence is not the answer, and that some peoples fear of war is a shield against war/.</div>]]></description>

We thought this was important because it changes their fate. One question we had was why did their own nephew trick them, or was he forced to do it?  We can conclude that they probably forced him to write it, because they knew that they were hiding.<br>3:The graphic novel has taught me that we can remember the pass through story's, or letters.</div>]]></description>
