Reflection: I quite enjoyed this assignment. It was really fun to do. I did, however, have a hard time drawing some of the things, like the eyes and the hair. I used shading under the chin to create a type of shadow. I think the tutorial on how to draw it was fairly easy to follow and I wouldn't mind doing an assignment like this in the near future.

Some art terms that can apply to this assignment are negative space, which is the unmarked space around and between objects and positive space is the objects themselves.

I think the hardest part was creating the shadows, so they weren't too dark and not dark enough. I had to make them perfect, at least what a perfect shadow would look like in my eyes.

A technique I used was lifting with tissue to create lighter areas in the sand. I used the secondary colors orange and primary colors blue and yellow. I also mixed together with black and blue to create a darker blue for the sky behind the sand mountains.

Principles of Design are very important for every artist and photograph to know. They bring all the different principles together in one photo/design, creating one art piece. Using the principles helps the photo look a lot better and nicer. When looking at an art piece before I learned what the principles were, I normally focused on how "aesthetically pleasing" it was, but now I look for other things like emphasis, movement, unity, etc. to figure out the actual meaning of the photograph.

Reflection: For this assignment, I chose a flowerpot that we have. I had to re-do it a few times because I raised my pen more than three times, but I finally got it. I enjoyed doing this project because I like drawing a blind contour of what I chose to draw. I also enjoyed the way I didn't have to paint the entire picture, instead, I just had to paint inside of it and leave blank space near the contour lines.

Artist statement: I found this assignment fun to do, even though I am not good at drawing people. I thought about different media that I could use and ultimately decided on using watercolor as my media. The first thing I did was draw my outline with a pencil and after that, I painted the face first. Once I was done painting everything, I went over the pencil lines with a dry brush and wet watercolor to give it a darker effect. I had to use a few layers of the black watercolor because it came out gray once it dried.

For my tempera paint project, I watched the winter scene on YouTube and followed along. It was incredibly easy to follow along, but I wish there were captions on what colors to use. I used black, white, blue, and purple throughout the painting. It was easy to blend the white and blue together, which I enjoyed doing because of the result.
