When not serving as a stroke coordinator with the Ascension Providence-Park Hospital in Michigan, Mallory Milavec creates and markets hand-crafted earrings. Under the name of Heart of Marigold Designs, Mallory Milavec fashions strings of Japanese glass beads for ornamentation. Although she favors silver, gold, and rose gold, she also uses blue, red, and turquoise beads.

As part of her duties at Ascension, Ms. Milavec treats stroke patients in the hospital and after their discharge. She also reports on policies and protocols to stakeholders and presents in-house education to pharmacists, nurses, and doctors.

During her graduate education in nursing at the University of Michigan (UM) and Michigan State University, Ms. Milavec completed rotations in palliative medicine and surgical oncology. She has also treated patients at UM and interpreted test results for the UM Health System and St. Mary Mercy Hospital in Livonia, Michigan. At the Ann Arbor VA hospital, she worked within a vascular surgery unit.

Mallory Milavec also took part in an exchange program with the emergency department and neuro/trauma intensive care unit at Siriraj Hospital in Thailand. UM honored her with its Making a Difference Award and the Josephine Sana Award for Humanitarianism and Scholarly Excellence.
