The David ended up being placed outside the government palace, but it was later removed to avoid damage from the weather. (Salem)<br><br>&nbsp;Julius ll originally wanted Michelangelo to create his own tomb, but he quickly changed his mind and wanted Michelangelo to create the Sistine chapel's ceiling. Michelangelo did not want to do the project, claiming he was only a sculptor, but he ended up doing it anyway, and from 1508-1512, he covered the surface, about fifty-eight hundred square feet, seventy feet above the floor, with scenes from Genesis.
