The Republican Party will be favored during the time  because they will be seen as the party that ended the civil war and kept the Union together, while the South will be seen as rebels who want to tear the nation apart and start another war. The country as whole will be more focused on keeping the nation together because the war costed so much lives and money.

Sadly this is not the end of the issues from slavery many more are to come from slavery but soon after sharecropping is an issue which is essentially slavery part 2. There are policies that need to be created to put an end to it. These changes will not happen immediately but over time the tensions between the Union and the Confederacy will slightly fade.
