During the course we will learn about the Spanish Civil War historical, political and cultural contexts through fictional narratives and visual representations. For their final project, students will visit the Abraham Lincoln Brigade Archives, at the Tamiment Library (NYU). This semester the visit will take place online. The final essay narrates the experience of an Abraham Lincoln Brigade volunteer. It is an essential aspect of the course, and a fundamental tool to understand the global significance of the Spanish Civil War.
