I am grateful for the beautiful little city by the Bay that we call home and for our school district leaders who are providing parameters while also trusting us to serve our children and families in the best way possible.

I am so grateful to have this time with my family all in good health. Grateful for my families that are still engaging with me through our growth and learning and entrusting me to continue loving and educating their children. I'm grateful for the response of my scholars as they continue to question, wonder, entertain, and fill me with love and laughter through every Zoom meeting and email. Grateful for a district that has continued to provide the support and resources to keep our academic expectations high but yet still see that our emotional health is even more important. I am grateful for more time with my boys, a job that I’m still getting paid to do, not having to report to a building so I’m safer, a home to shelter in, FaceTime to be able to communicate with those that we love, supportive staff that are happy to help and be understanding of each other and our students, a yard for my children to play in, internet for MANY reasons, the hours of entertainment Tiger King provided (what did I just watch?!), and our health!!

I must say, I find gratitude in a multitude of things and people. Above all, I must say I thank God for orchestrating such a grand group of people in my life. We don’t have to be the closest for me to be thankful for someone’s presence, their aura, or their story. I’m grateful for my Syms Team. Dr. Jenkins, Ms. Montgomery, Mr. Blair, Mr. Taylor and even past principals have all contributed to my mind frame and nature. Ms. Taylor for being light-hearted, goal-oriented, and goofy! Ms. Ann Munana for being a strong hold and prayer warrior. Ms. Savedge for being my twin flame and compassionate friend. I’m most certainly grateful for Heather Peterson, for being such a soul connector for me. I literally brighten up every time I see that woman’s face. What an empathetic, strong woman she is. I am grateful for Ms. Richardson, for exhibiting that motherly figure and forcing me to get to the root of myself. I thank God and these experiences for enforcing sternness, compassion, and a listening ear even when things seemed to be overtly chaotic. I have the upmost respect for the HCS team because it feels like a family that has been perfectly aligned with one another, even with the tussles. I’ve found a home with these people as if they are my own family. I love how we come together. At first, all I would allow myself to focus on was the brunt of our job... but so much mental rewards come with seeing it through until the sun shines. I love my people! ❤️

I am first grateful for God's love during this hard time. For the opportunity to be with my family and help my sister with my niece and nephew to lighten her load. On that same note I truly appreciate my admin team and my BHS family because they have really been a huge support during this difficult times. I am truly grateful for the HCS DLT and all of the staff that has been working to ensure our students, parents and staff have the resources they need to be successful and to survive during these unchartered times. This time of social distancing has provided a unique perspective for me and my family. Although we have family in another country and another state, we are thankful that everyone is well and safe...that is a blessing! Having a household member as a local physician is nerve-racking but covered in prayers of grace and mercy....that is a blessing! Family dinners, family game nights and family walks in the neighborhood before family worship have been a blessing that does not have to be rushed! Although having the school year with our students end without closure has been emotionally stressful and downright traumatic for others; we are fortunate to be able to communicate with the majority of our students and families via phone and technology such as Face time and Zoom.....that is a blessing! Having the normal daily routine interrupted has caused much anxiety but having the ability to work remotely and meet with my coworkers via Zoom (seeing their lovely faces) has been a blessing as well! I am grateful for a healthy perspective and thankful to The Lord for all these many blessings! Peace of mind and blessings of good health to each of you!
