They wanted to own a restaurant and give their daughters the best life they could possibly give them. My giagia and papou came to the U.S. with their two daughters. Since my uncle was in the Greek Navy he lived in California for about 15 years. A few iconic musicians such as Micheal Jackson, N.W.A., and Prince were becoming famous. Things were changing since the cold war had come to an end. In 1988. George W. H. Bush was elected president and was also the first incumbent vice president to be elected president since Martin Van Buren in 1836. As all of this was going on in U.S. when my mom moved to America it did not affect her and her family.
