Mama can also be caring because she is protecting her family from Tio Luis, because she cares about Papa, and her family from Tio Luis an his threats that can make their life miserable. Lastly, Mama is trustworthy, because Esperanza can trust her Mama anytime, but at this time she was confused when Mama excepted Tio Luis's proposal, which would mean Esperanza's uncle would be her step dad, but instead Mama has a plan, so Mama is faking the proposal.
