Birds and rhinos have evolved a social behavior that benefits both of them. The bird eats the ticks and other parasites getting a meal of the rhino. In return the rhino gets those annoying ticks of him. An article by indiatimes states “Rhinos without oxpeckers on their back were able to detect our approaches just 23 percent of the time whereas rhinos with oxpeckers detected them every single time.”. This became an adaptation because they work together so well to make them survive. The rhino with it's poor eyesight can use the birds to detect danger so they have a better chance of surviving. The birds gets more parasites and ticks to eat from the rhino. Social behavior can be very helpful to many animals. If animals cooperate they become stronger together.
