Putting illegal immigrants in ICE Detention facilities is cruel, and inhumane. The conditions in these camps are unsanitary, and not safe. There are children as young as 7&8 staying in these camps. A detainee stated that ““the water provided them was foul, of a dark color, and an ordinary glass would collect a thick sediment. The authorities never removed any filth.” Along with these young children having to deal with these conditions, there is also overcrowding in this camp. Where 800 people can be crammed into a space meant to fit 125. “dangerous overcrowding” in some Border Patrol facilities and included pictures of people crowded together like human cargo.” A source who visited one of these camps, explains the horrible sights she saw at these camps. "What we saw today was unconscionable. No child should ever be separated from their parents. No child should ever be taken from their family," They also claim to have seen children as young as 9 caring for infants they had just met. Although these people are illegal immigrants, and many do not want them in the U.S, it is inhumane to put them in conditions like these.

https://www.politifact.com/article/2019/jul/08/facts-behind-detention-immigrants/

https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2019/07/border-facilities/593239/

Illegal immigrants shouldn’t be put in ICE detention facilities because the conditions are terrible. These camps violate the basic rights of the refugee seeking asylum. Our nation throws them into an overcrowded camp an expects them to follow all orders. This sick way that we treat immigrants from our southern border is cruel. According to the News source Intelligencer, “Conditions in a McAllen, Texas Facility Could Be Compared to Torture Facilities.” These people are trying to escape from the rising tensions in their country only to be thrown in these atrocious and disgusting camps. Not only are these people treated unfairly but Intelligencer also stated that “[in] Texas in mid-June, after attorneys discovered a flu outbreak that sent five infants to a neonatal intensive-care unit."This shows the illnesses in these camps due to overcrowding. The final awful thing about these camps is that our nation is profiting off of them. According to CNBC, “A lot of people imagine immigration detention as being a government-only function, but there are private contractors throughout the entire immigration enforcement and detention system.” If you keep reading this article, you find out that the Trump administration profits on the number of arrests made. This caused the number of arrests in 2019 to skyrocket. The fact that this is still happening in America is despicable, and the ICE Detention camps need to be stopped.

Sources:
-
https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/living-conditions-immigration-detention-centers.html

Illegal immigrants should not be put in ICE detention centers because both the adults and children are treated in ways that are brutal and severe. At the centers, there is little food provided and even the food that the detainees receive is unhealthy. According to The Atlantic, “Our ration was in quality a starving one, it being either too foul to be touched or too raw to be digested.” No matter the circumstances of why they were put into the detention center, every human being deserves clean food and a healthy amount of it. Most would expect that the children would be in better conditions. But, it is the opposite. The Atlantic states that, “These observers told the press that the children at a facility in Clint, Texas, were sleeping on concrete floors and being denied soap and toothpaste.” These children are already terrified because they are being split from their family and placed in a room with complete strangers. Not being able to sleep on a bed or brush their teeth, just makes matters even more brutal for these kids. ICE detention centers are cruel places where people are treated as if they don't matter.

Sources:
https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2019/07/border-facilities/593239/

https://www.immigrationequality.org/get-legal-help/our-legal-resources/detention-deportation/conditions-of-detention/#.XoI2PKhKjHo

Illegal immigrants shouldn’t be put in ICE detention facilities, as they have harsh and inhumane conditions. These centers are overcrowded, which can lead to spread of disease. In May 2019, the report from the Department of Homeland Security’s inspector general found 900 people crammed into a space designed to accommodate 125 at most. The detainees don’t even have the basic rights that America grants to people, like freedom of speech. On Oct. 16 2019, guards attacked detainees who were fasting in protest, beating one of them so badly he was taken to a hospital. Some people are accidentally detained, putting them through experiences that they didn’t have to go through. ICE wrongfully detained more than 3,500 U.S. citizens in Texas alone from 2006 to 2017. All in all, ICE detention centers are terrible places with harsh conditions that no one should go through.

Sources:
USA Today https://www.usatoday.com/in-depth/news/nation/2019/12/19/ice-asylum-under-trump-exclusive-look-us-immigration-detention/4381404002/
NY Times
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/07/12/opinion/ice-raids.html
Time
https://time.com/5623148/migrant-detention-centers-conditions/

Illegal immigrants should not be put into ICE Detention centers. The conditions in these camps are so bad they were compared to concentration camps in the Holocaust Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s said in a article. The rooms were squeezing 41 detainees in a room meant for 8. Not even criminals should live in conditions like this. Even kids were treated terribly with no care or worries of the hygiene in the camps. NBC news reporters say that "children who were removed “were wearing dirty clothes covered in mucus or even urine," So the kids and adults where stuck in these facilities without showers for weeks on end which would cause diseases to spread and could even lead to death for infants or old people. Little children were being pulled away from there mothers and fathers being left alone with other kids and a guard to watch over them. The worst part is that people are making a lot of money off of the facilities because of the sponsors and loans that that the government gives them which are in the billions of dollars and none of the money is being put into the facilities. So there really is nothing good about these detention centers so they need to stopped and shut down.

Sources:

https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2019/07/the-inhumane-conditions-at-migrant-detention-camps.html

https://www.politifact.com/article/2019/jul/08/facts-behind-detention-immigrants/

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/06/28/companies-profiting-immigration-enforcement-private-sector-prison-tech.html

https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/living-conditions-immigration-detention-centers.html

Illegal immigrants should not be put int ICE detention centers because some people there are not illegal immigrants, they just did not renew there passport and the police happen to be there. There are a lot of people that think that "A lot of people imagine immigration detention as being a government-only function," ICE detention centers treat the children and adults like they are one above them like keep telling them what do and keep telling them and just keep doing it. Also if one immigrant is sick or if they have covid-19. and they do not feel well, then if they get tested, all the other people will get infected because they get put right back with the other people. According to Mohler, From the moment after an undocumented immigrant is arrested, you have corporations that contract with federal agencies and provide everything from operating detention centers to providing ankle monitors ... all the way to chartered flights if they’re deported.” Putting an ankle monitor is just mean because they are tracking you 24/7. That is just creepy.

Sources:

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/06/28/companies-profiting-immigration-enforcement-private-sector-prison-tech.html
