The caste system is a system which people are placed to determine what power/status they hold. There are four varnas/classes in the system. The highest varna are the Brahmins. They usually grow to serve as priests and scholars. One rule that Brahmins followed is that they would have the same job as their father. If you were a Brahmin and your father was a priest, you would have to be a priest as well. The second highest varna is the Kshatriya. These people served as warriors and rulers. Kshatriyas were supposed to protect the Brahmins. They would work with Brahmins to make decisions about the kingdom. They were given complete rule and control over the next lower class and could use them as needed. Kshatriyas were expected to be dependent on the Brahmins so that they could use their knowledge. Continued on next post…

Many believed that this system worked. They thought it gave each person a special purpose of what they should or could do. For example, it gave them restrictions on who you can marry, you can be friends with, you can work with, and many other factors. It was also an ancient tradition, and since it worked for many years, people believed it could work for these years as well.
In 1949, a rule was placed that forbids discrimination by caste. The government didn't really implement their ideas until 1990. When they added their ideas, the upper class and upper-middle classes revolted. After this, efforts were still given. The main reason this happened and the rules started is because of the efforts of Mahatma Gandhi, Jyotirao Phule, and many others. These people fought for the lower caste's rights.
After these campaigns, distance between the other castes became more relaxed. Brahmins now sit in the same rooms as Sudhras. Caste discrimination still exists though. People still use it because it is believed to be the better system, and that ancients lived like this so they could as well. It is really hard to eradicate an ancient old tradition. Good news is that it has mainly vanished, and most others are very happy with that.

The third varna is the Vaishyas. These people serve as traders, merchants, and farmers. They needed to serve the community. Even though these people never had a social status, they still had an affordable lifestyle. The last varna is the Sudhras. They served as servants, laborers, and artisans. Sudhras couldn't enter any temples or join any religious practices. They never had a social status. There is one other class that isn't given the privilege of being on the system. They are called Dalitz, otherwise known as Pariah. These people would do the dirty jobs like For example, Pariah were often leather tanners, sewage workers, or butchers if they were lucky. Most would become beggars. People wouldn't want to touch you because they thought Pariahs are contaminated. If you inherited the trait of being a pariah from your parents, you would have that caste. All of these classes were represented by one of the most important gods in their religion, Brahma. Brahmins were usually called the head of god Brahma. Kshatriya's were the shoulders of god Brahma. Vaishyas were represented the thighs/legs of god Brahma, and Sudhras were represented as the feet of god Brahma. Pariahs weren't permitted to be on this scale.

According to the UN, “equality, inclusion and non-discrimination, in other words - a human rights-based approach to development - is the best way to reduce inequalities and resume the path towards realising the 2030 Agenda,” which principle is leaving no-one behind.Shamefully, this is not the case. In spite of all well-intentioned words, declarations, statements and appeals, the grave spread of inequalities all over the world remains prevailing and expanding. The numerous and severe aspects of inequality are manifested in rampant poverty, pervasive inequalities and structural discrimination are human rights violations and among the greatest global challenges of current time.
