I LOVED reading all your back stories. Thank you so much for sharing, you'd be surprised how helpful those were. You are all so unique, interesting and individually talented!

MY ICEBREAKER:

From an early age, dance was apart of my life. My mom danced in Canada's Wonderland's professional productions from the first year it opened up (she was 16!) However she never "pushed me" to pursue it, I was just an energetic kid who loved music and to bop around. I started taking ballet, jazz and tap at 5-6 years of age at a studio in Hamilton and would go to visit my grandparents (killed 2 birds with 1 stone).

Eventually traveling the weekly distance became difficult as they recommended I be at the studio daily so I stopped. In the meantime I played a bunch of sports and even took Tae Kwon Do with my brother and got my black belt!

Growing up in the 90's, I was surrounded by all the new music coming out (Usher, TLC, Destiny's Child, Ciara, Ludacris, etc.) So for my 13th birthday I asked for hip hop lessons because I wanted to be in music videos one day (HA... and I had a slight obsession with the movie Honey with Jessica Alba).

I instantly fell in love with Hip Hop! My studio was so urban they did not offer any other styles, but I knew I wanted to train more so I would go to workshops and other studio to learn jazz, ballet, contemp, etc.

Here we are 12 years later, I never thought I'd own my studio because I never grew up as a "studio kid"! However I look it more as a place for individuals to be CREATIVE hence the name: Kreative In Dance Styles (K.I.D.S)

Over the years I've had amazing opportunities to do stage and professional work. My crew I choreograph for (The Interns) holds the 2012 World of Dance Youth Division title, STOMP 2016 Advanced Division and even travelled to England representing Canada for the World Hip Hop Finals (placing 6th in the world out of 40 teams!)

Some of my personal accomplishments include: judging dance competitions, music videos, family channel, Justin Bieber's Home for the Holidays Reception, Teen Choice Awards, backup dancing, and numerous corporate events.

It is a pleasure to be here and work with you all. Whether this is a profession or a hobby in your future I hope you all approach dance with a love for its beauty, challenges, emotion and happiness it shares. Work hard, push yourselves and make the most out of your opportunities!!!!
