The character Baltazar in Romeo and Juliet and the lion in Pyramus and Thisbe are the same character that have the same actions in the story. Baltazar makes Romeo think that his love, Juliet, was dead, and the lion does the same thing in the story of Pyramus and Thisbe. Both of these characters lead the Romeos of the stories to their deaths, because of the false information that the characters gave them. " Before him lay the bloodstained shreds of the cloak and clear in the dust were the tracks of the lioness. The conclusion was inevitable. He never doubted that he knew all. Thisbe was dead." Paragraph 5 Line 9-10 of paragraph 5. This scene that the lion made, made Pyramus think that Thisbe was dead.

In the story, Pyramus and Thisbe had a strong connection, just like Romeo and Juliet, they could not be kept apart. The story states in paragraph 2, "It was impossible that these two whose hearts were on fire should be kept apart" (2). Along with in paragraph 3, it states, "So they would talk, and as night came on and they must part, each would press on the wall kisses that could not go through to the lips on the other side" (3). The pair of lovers would secretly meet up to spend time together, which Romeo and Juliet also did. The pairs were inseparable, along with their love.

Pyramus and Thisbe plan to escape to the Tomb of Ninus because they couldn't endure being apart any longer. In paragraph 2, the text states, "They decided that that very night they would try to slip away and steal out through the city into the open country where at last they could be together in freedom. (5-7)"
Similarly, Romeo and Juliet make a plan to fake Juilet's death and then escape off to Mantua because they couldn't take their feuding families' decisions anymore. Unfortunately, like Romeo and Juliet's tragedy, Pyramus and Thisbe commit suicide over a misunderstanding that happened at the meeting place.
