The story is about technical and pollution problems at flat by Mohd Fharkhan Abdul Ghapar.

            Based on the article in this local newspaper, its combine pictures and text together. The format that used by the designer is one horizontal photo. In my opinion, yes it is attractive and adhered to the rule of designing a story by using this one horizontal photo as a format of designing. Besides, it looks more pleasing to the eyes of reader. Moreover, it also can help the readers from getting bored while reading because the text is not too much. 

            There are also a good and bad about published a story design. The good things about story design are can help readers absorb information more easily. Besides, it also can help readers more focus and willing to read the news till the end. Story design is a process of organizing and synthesizing many disparate informational elements. Moreover, story design also gives a newspaper its personality that can make a newspaper a consistent and familiar product to readers. 

            The bad things that I can say about a published story design is limited spaces for the text. The editor must fit the story to the readers and make the story short. So that they can understand carefully about the news that published.

            In my opinion, there are actually pro and cons by published a story design. It’s up to the designer either to use the format of story design wisely or not. For my suggestion, try not to design a big photo than the text. It actually based on issue that the reporter wants to published. If the issue is about the sentiment of public or religion, I think the picture should dominant the page. If not, it just enough to have a picture with a suitable size on it. If the news need quick respond from the government, as a news in my local newspaper, then the picture should not bigger than the text. It is because, many important information that the reporter wants to write in it. With that, it can help the government to understand then take an action from the problems that source faced.

In my opinion I can say that the headline followed by the secondary headline. The photo shape for this design is horizontal shape. In this article use direct quotes. The story design is in L-shaped text block which is wrap the photo. Position the photo on the proper side – whichever side forces the action in the photo to move towards the text. The article use legs   2 inches deep. The design use 5 columns and the caption placed at top-right photo

 First of all, I would like to summarize the article that I have read from Berita Harian’s newspaper page 14. We can see through the headline that will attract all the readers outside including me. This article is about two male apes who specialize and proficient in picking Petai and Durian. These apes were raised by Abdul Malek who was teach them to become a excellent picker of various types of fruit. Overall this article is all about those famous apes include how the guardian teach, where they comes from, how they learn, what they eat and so on.

Beside that, to avoid bias and potentially misleading coverage, it is important to comment and critique the news that reader have read.  The story design in this news are consist of the headline, photo and text.  As we all know usually those apes only famous with their proficient in picking coconut but something different about those apes make them special and became one of the news for reporter. For me, the headline of this article was intriguing and attractive that can attract attention readers. Next, the photo. Photo in this article is so unclear, not relevant, unsuitable to the headline that are given. It is because the headline talk about petai and durian while this photo is about apes picking a coconut The different and special thing about the apes is can pick a various type of fruit. In my opinion, if I be a reporter, I will put the photo of the apes picking durian or another fruit except coconut. It make more impressive for reader to read that story. Last, the text is horizontal, simple but too long  only to describe about those apes. It will make a little boring to reader. Take those apes as a news maybe it could be a quite funny ,seem like a reporter does not have news to cover but the privilege of that apes was highlighted by the reporter. Besides, there were good news leads that explain clearly about the headline and the entire news. The cutlines awere placed below each photo, and there are 6 columns of the entire page. The photos used in the story mostly in horizontal style and one of them is in a vertical style. 

In my point of view, this story is a bit long that will make readers easy to feel bored but it looks nice because many photos have been used in the story. 

From my perspective, the news article is interesting and has fulfilled the rules of designing a story. It has the four basic elements of newspaper which are headline, text, photos and cutline to attract the audiences to read it. 

As for the headline, it is a good one as it summarizes the content of the story. The number of the line the headline has is one because the story has 4 columns. The news story uses a kicker headline style which is set above the main headline as its supplement.

Besides that, the text is written in L-shaped text block. The headline and its text also move along the page horizontally. It is a good choice as it makes the story looks shorter and pleasant to read.

The photo shape that is used for the article is a horizontal photo which has a cutline below the photo to describe the image.

So, I think that this article is interesting and has succeeded in attracting the audiences’ attention to read it. 

Based on the news entitled “Bukan pendirian anggota ASEAN” from Berita Harian 26 Sept 2017, the editor chooses to use kicker headline which set above the main headline and gives additional information. To make the news look more interesting, the editor makes it horizontal. It has five columns and the photo used is a mugshot which is a close-up photo of someone’s face and only use a very small space. The byline is placed at the top of the news and the dateline is placed after the byline. Furthermore, the editor makes a lift out quote. That’s all I can conclude from the news. Thank you. 

 The news that I have chosen is from Berita Harian and the story that I attached is about motif of murder in Las Vegas,Nevada. 

The story design of this story are using one horizontal photo. For my Opinion, using horizontal photo is good because can create the illusion that the stories are shorter and can attract the eyes of reader to read this story. Furthermore, this story have a kicker and a cutline which is related to the photo and easy for reader to understand what happen. This news using 3 columns of lines and 1 in a headline which means that suitable and neat for using. For me, this story is attractive and easy to understand because mystery story and the text is not too long. The reader can read until the end. Besides that, this story have an additional information and dateline to facilitate readers know more about this issue because this story occurs abroad. That’s all from me. Thank You.
