One example is how his name isn't even Jay Gatsby. His name is James Gatz and he was born in North Dakota. The two reasons he wanted to developed his wealth was because he saw the lifestyle of Dan Cody and he wanted to win the love of Daisy. He met Daisy before he left for the military. She promised to wait for him but married Tom instead. Daisy ran over Myrtle when she was in the care with Gatsby. This caused Wilson to snap. He went after Myrtle's secret lover. Sadly, he got the wrong guy. He thought Myrtle's lover was Gatsby and shot him while he was in his pool.
