Some ways my family is different from theirs is that we have a place to stay were we can sleep and relax.

The glass castle mainly revolved around social class because the dad would get a new job every week and the mom stayed home. Since Rex doesn't have a lot of money they don't celebrate Christmas and they say that Santa is just the parents trying to get into the kids brains. Also because they sometimes have to rely on gambling to double their money. And if they get a lot of money they just go and waste it on dinner or on themselves. They also just live in a car sometimes because they can't afford a place to live. They also leave town when its dark so they don't have to pay rent and because they can't afford it.

Some recurring patterns that happen is that Rex who was Janet's dad hated people who had more power then him. A Significant event is that when Janet was boiling hot dog's and her dress caught on fire and she didn't care she just stared at the fire showing that Janet was not afraid and that maybe she had learned not to cry. Something the author should have put in the book could be how Mary Charlene's death traumatized Rex because in the book it says that Rex hasn't been the same since she died.

Especially because I take things for granted and now realize to cherish those moments because they wont last forever. I feel like the intended audience were lower class people because they can share similar thing since they know what it feels like. I feel like different readers with different classes because they don't know how it feels like to be poor and have never experienced anything having to do with money since they always have had it.

Some experiences I share with this character is that we both found a place where we belong. Since for her it was when she moved to a town where all the kids were in poverty but yet they would play with one another and have fun until she had to move. Which was the same for me were I lived because most of the kids that lived in the apartments where I live would come and play and I to felt like I belong there but then we grew up and stopped playing. Also my family is different from hers because we talk things out while they fight it out. Also something I haven't experienced is escaping to a different place to escape trail because I haven't committed any crime and she probably is feeling scared.

They also know that they can't afford a lot of things because their dad can't find a job and their mom just likes to paint.

As both Rose Mary and Rex decided to move to West Virginia they had a difficult time living with Rex's mom and so after the kids got everyone banished for attacking their grandma, they moved to an old house on 93 Little Hobart Street which was old and had exposed lines, and buzzing switches. They also had problems when it would rain "During on particular fierce rainstorm that spring, the ceiling grew so fat it burst, and water and plasterboard came crashing down onto the floor" (Jeannette pg 153)

And this quote stood out for me because after they left Phoenix their lives changed because they had to live in a place where they didn't have a bathroom and their house was barely standing up right.

In these couple chapters The Glass Castle revolved around both religion and social class because when they still lived in Phoenix they would attend mass on sun days but Rex would not go because he believed in science and reason and so when he would be forced to go to church he would be anxious and want to leave that place as soon as possible. And during mass he would try to argue with the priest to try and be right and make religion turn into something fake .

His hands dropped down. He squeezed my bottom, pushed me onto the bed, and began kissing me. "All right!" one friend said, and the other yelled, "Get it on!""I'm not that kind of girl," I said, but he ignored me. When I tried rolling away, he pinned back my arms." This shows that he mental health was effected because her dad used her as money and lost so she had to go through this.

Another thing I have in common with someone is Jeanette because we both are in high school and so we both are stressed out with homework that we have to complete. We also both had enemies that turned to friends because for me it was a good friend but he would hate on me for no reason until I went up and introduced myself and that when we became friends.

Now that we have finished The book called The Glass Castle I come to understand that not everyone has the same opportunity at life because of many things whether it's lack of education , money or race. Just because you don't have a lot of money doesn't mean you can't be successful. If you really want to succeed you will accomplish it. Also something I can take away from this book it's that even if your in poverty it doesn't mean you can't accomplish anything it means that you have to be willing to put in the work to be successful, to accomplish your life goals.
