It is said that physical wellness is the gateway to experiencing quality of life, leads to prevention of illness and almost unlocks the door to financial stability.
Physical wellness entails more than hitting the treadmill 4 times a week too; it includes intentionally engaging in routines that promote overall health. Following a regimen of eating healthy, making sure the body is well rested, refraining from smoking, and not consuming alcohol to get drunk are examples of physical wellness practices.

Strategies to improve and build physical wellness:
https://www.nih.gov/health-information/physical-wellness-toolkit#:~:text=Watching%20what%20you%20put%20into,disease%2C%20and%20increase%20your%20energy.

I chose to discuss Mental Health because it is my current career path. Mental Health affects how we think, feel and act; and mental illnesses (or disorders) are diagnosed conditions that affect a person's mood or behavior. Mental Health was rarely discussed in households in previous years, but is slowly becoming a common place conversation now. Having a Mental Health disorder doesn't condemn one's life; however the stigma attached to having a disorder negatively labels an individual and changes their self perception and social concept.

Early Prevention

It is exceptionally important for college students to be aware of mental health, because of the onset of disorders. Some begin as early as age 14 but, those who experience a lifetime of mental health disorders begin at age 24. Since the average college student is between 18 and 22 years young, early detection can lead to prevention which will aid in being able to form healthy coping skills and to experience quality of life, despite the disorder. A college student (especially in their early 20s), is still trying to find themselves and their 'pack'. Struggling to fitting in, the absence of strong interpersonal relationships mixed with the lack of emotional intelligence can lead to symptoms of the onset of mental health disorders.

I found so many compelling details in this chapter about wellness and the correlation with mental health. Eating to live is real, and considered fundamental for a healthy overall being. I learned (had some previous understanding) something as simple as consuming enough water can aid in our mental health; "Water also improves the human nervous system’s ability to conduct electrochemical signals, which improves the brain’s ability to process information". A high quality nutritious diet can improve the performance of human body and mind. Gives the saying, "You are what you eat" so much meaning.....
