This programme introduces you to the world of the allied health professions within the North East and Yorkshire, and will help you understand the diverse opportunities and careers within the sector.

Forensic Psychology It's not all Criminal Minds and Mindhunter, in this module you'll hear all about the work forensic psychologists do in the criminal justice system. We'll also break down the range of approaches and treatment forensic psychologists use to support the individuals they work with. In this module's activity you'll use what you've learnt so far about offender/victim profiling to help assist with an investigation. Sports Psychology Health Psychology Clinical Psychology

Ready to explore the world of dentistry? In this experience, you’ll dive into the various roles at mydentist, from dentists and dental nurses to treatment coordinators and practice managers. Whether you’re just curious or serious about a future in healthcare, this programme will equip you with the knowledge and inspiration to take the next step.

Please find details of a Work Experience offer from Quickline for schools in South Yorkshire. There are 12 places available for any Y12 student from any school who would like to participate in the Work Experience weeks covering different business departments - such as Marketing, IT, Engineering and Social Value. Quickline believe this will be a fantastic opportunity to give students a breadth of knowledge across key business areas while offering valuable hands-on experience to inspire their future career choices.

The work experience location will be at the QSB2 site in Leeds- the full address is Overland Business Park, Guildersome, Leeds, LS27 7JP.

There is a cohort of 12 BTEC Business students from Kirklees College in Huddersfield already confirmed to attend in groups of 6 per week and it would be great if we can add in 12 Y12 students from South Yorkshire, 6 to attend per week . Please see the scheduled weeks below:

W/C 28th Apr- 6 students from South Yorkshire, 6 students from West Yorkshire

W/C 12th May- 6 students from South Yorkshire, 6 students from West Yorkshire

This is not limited to Business students and can be any Y12 year group that teachers or Careers Officers think would benefit from attending.  This would be delivered with a first day introduction, followed by 4/5 different departments at Quickline with a final expectation for the students to present what they have learnt on the final day.

The first day will start at 10 am until 4:30 pm, Tuesday-Thursday 9:30 am-4:30 pm and Friday 9:30 am – 1pm.

Teachers can then meaningfully use these insights to enrich their curriculum teaching, helping their students

build a deeper understanding of opportunities, connections between learning, and industry and the essential

skills that need to be honed for different roles. There are a number of pathways and routes into employment,

in particular technical and vocational options like apprenticeships. This knowledge can empower educators to

effectively support students to take their best next step into your sector or workplace.

Teacher Encounters can be delivered in a variety of ways; from providing one-to-one placements, to small or

large groups of teachers from a single school or multiple schools. We recommend that an encounter should

be a minimum of 5 hours long, but this can include both preparation and follow up activity.

We are halfway through #NCW2026 and today we will be looking at all things apprenticeships. Our South Yorkshire Apprenticeship Hub is making great strides elevating awareness and supporting young people, parents and businesses around apprenticeship opportunities. This year, we are delivering a series of CPD sessions shaped directly by the priorities identified in our Careers Leader survey at the start of the academic year. Today’s session will provide an overview of Modern Work Experience, exploring key concepts, expectations, and approaches that support high‑quality careers provision.

Participants will explore effective ways to gather meaningful parent and carer voice, utilising the new Compass+ questionnaire, understand what the feedback tells us about aspirations and barriers, and use these insights to shape and strengthen careers provision across secondary schools and colleges. Designed for Career Leaders and Educational Leaders, the session will share real world examples, scalable strategies and clear next steps to ensure parent and carer engagement drives improved outcomes for all learners.

A reminder to join us at our Leading the Way event on Thursday 10 September 2026, where you'll discover how your school can access Modern Work Experience opportunities during the next academic year. If you haven't already done so, please register via Eventbrite to secure your place and ensure you have accepted the calendar invitation.

Please also look out for your Headteacher Report, which will be shared in mid-September with Headteachers, Careers Leaders and Senior Leadership Teams and will highlight your school's progress over the past three academic years. To enable us to produce these reports, please ensure your final Compass submission is completed by the end of July.
