Easier said than done but credible leaders for me are able to walk the fine line between institutional, department, team & personal goals and still maintain their genuine, authentic self.

I found the "docile bodies" reading very interesting in that institutions and leadership roles can sometimes make it quite difficult for credible leadership to flourish as potentially credible leaders have to 'self-regulate' and internalise the institutions strategy, losing some of what I would see as credibility in the process.

Inspiring belief and integrity then come from maintaining a level of independence and authenticity whilst navigating this institutional context.

I feel that any leader in any field or industry should have experience of that field and also maintain some practice of it in order to stay current. Therefore if someone is leading in teaching then they should have experience in teaching and should still be doing some teaching. The same would be for a leader in research. I find it easier to follow someone who has experience and are up to date in what they are leading. I find there leadership more credible.

The main behaviour is pride of the work and the team people belong to. This puts people in a more positive frame of mind and hence will enhance their enthusiasm and effectiveness in doing their job, like encouraging people during project presentations.
