A Hispanic person is someone of Spanish Speaking origin. People from Spain would be Spanish and Hispanic because they are from Spain and it is a Spanish speaking country. However you can be Hispanic, for example from Mexico, and not be Spanish. Latino means someone from a Latin American origin. Someone from Brazil would be Latino but not Hispanic because they do not speak Spanish. Hispanic focuses more on whether your family speaks the Spanish language and Latino focuses on the country of origin.
