I am an environmental studies major, and I plan on continuing this major until I receive my BA. Being an environmental studies majors focus on environmental issues and ways to help tackle what can be done to make Earth more inhabitable.

UCSB Takeaway

I learned that this college is known for its coastal campus and parties, which both seem enjoyable. I also discovered that they focus a lot on research and developing, as well as expanding on new theories and ideas that other schools have not sufficiently addressed. I like how there are many extracurriculars and support services, which helps me know that I will always have someone to help answer my questions about my major, while also helping teach me on issues I haven't thought too hard about before.

I learned that UCI is much more city-focused and urban, being less known for parties. While researching this school, I found that it's more STEM-focused than Santa Barbara, but mainly in the engineering or computer science fields, as opposed to Santa Barbara being more environmental and nature-based sciences

Some Key Steps For My Success

One of the goals I have for myself next semester is to start using a calendar to remind me of due dates for homework and projects, since I get caught up in my daily life and sometimes fall behind on work load and have to do more than needed to make sure I get back on track again. Additionally, I'd also like to get involved in more clubs or groups since I love meeting people and they'd be people that are also passionate about my major and hobbies that I enjoy. Finally, one other goal I have for myself is to take courses that align with my major, and help me maintain a good GPA.

I plan on implementing better communication, like taking advantage of online tutoring or librarians to help answer my questions and provide guidance
I am going to always assess the pre-requisites needed for certain courses to make sure I don't register for a course that will not benefit me or that I am not eligible for
I will always ask for feedback and make sure that I communicate with professors when needed, making sure that I ask get help when needed will make sure I am never confused and clouded

I hope to succesfully transfer to UCSB and to find new jobs to work at, as well as making new friends in that area since I won't know anyone. I also plan to try out for the lacrosse, men's weightlifting team, and men's rowing team with hopes that I made the teams.

Within 5 years, I would like to graduate from UCSB with my BA in Environmental studies, and I will pursue med school at UC Davis or any good med school in order to become a pediatrician. In regards to a job, I'd love to be a pediatrician's assistant or take internships in that medical field. I'd love to be living back in Ladera Ranch though after this time because I love where I grew up. I see myself possibly coaching my younger brother with his sports in the mean time during this since I more than likely won't play anything, but I'd love to help him get there.

After 10 Years

After 10 years, I hope that I have my BA in environmental studies and have successfully completed med school, fulfilling becoming a fulltime pediatrician. I see myself living in a small home in Ladera Ranch ideally with my current girlfriend (I know it's cheesy), and raising kids later down the line with two dogs. In my free time, I see myself continuing going to the gym daily, and biking around my city.

I like this quote because it relates to an issue I have within my day to day life, where I constantly feel like I need to be the best at anything I do, but in reality I need to just be better than I was in the past, which is what truly shows mental growth.

This is a quote from one of my favorite rappers, and it speaks to me because I usually think back on choices and decisions I didn't make. I love his quote because it conveys that time is limited and people should live in the moment without regretting what they didn't do.
