Having an ever growing minimum wage doesn't bring people out of poverty, but rather leaves lower-skilled workers jobless. But some states use the federal minimum wage only as a benchmark, and taking it away altogether would make some states drop minimum wage entirely. Unfortunately, there is no definite prediction as to what eliminating minimum wage, but there are two main effects for sure. Employment rates would go up, but minimum wage would go down. With a higher minimum wage, companies would have more have more productive workers.
