SomeTime after Midnight a Cinderfella Story is about two people, Nate and Cameron. In the beginning of the story Nate is preparing to move away to Los Angeles; while, Cameron is with his sister while she is modeling in front of the mirror. Later they both approach eachother at a club . Nate leaves the event realizing that Cameron is the heir to a record label that destroyed his father’s life. Before Nate left, Cameron gets a photo of his shoes. Cameron’s sister took the situation into her hands and posted on Instagram looking for Nate’s “cinderfella” which became famous. Nate and Cameron then reunite through the viral post.

They connect and learn about each other throughout the story and learn more about their fathers situations. They go to Cameron’s beach house which they call “paradise”. As they connect, they learn about each other’s music as well and want to play with each other. Nate keeps distancing himself though because he doesn’t know if it's a good idea to be friends. After getting past Nate's fathers situation, they create and release their music which people enjoyed. After everything they finally get together and have a “happy ever after”.

The most important theme of the story is that love can find you in weird ways. Why the theme is that is because Nate runs away after finding out about Cameron being the heir to the record label that ruined Nate’s fathers life. Cameron got a picture of Nate’s shoes which they reunited through an Instagram post, “You didn’t tell me you were Richard Pierce” (Philips 27) “I have to go, Nate mumbles, backing away from me slowly before turning and bolting for the door. Phone still in hand, I have just enough time to snap a picture before he makes it through the door” (Philips 27). That is a weird way to find love because not alot of people connect that way. Another example of the theme is that they act like they are friends and business partners but really have feelings deep down for each other. They just try hiding it which can be a weird way to connect after trying to be only friends/ business partners.

Throughout the story there were a lot of changes to people and the plot, but the most important character who changed is Nate. At the beginning of the book Nate is more uneasy about everything happening in his life. For example, him moving to Los Angeles and everything that happened with Cameron’s record label and Nate’s father. He acted uneasy until he experienced being in Los Angeles more and getting to know more about everything that happened with his father. After getting used to everything, he started to become more pleasant. For example, he started being comfortable with the fact he was good friends with Cameron, and he was making music and going to a lot of places. There was a big difference between him in the beginning of the book and him at the end.

SomeTime after Midnight a Cinderfella Story, by L. Philips, is a great book for someone that likes reading about romance. This book is like a remake of Cinderella but with a lot of twists in it to make it more interesting. The characters have a good description about them and the author makes a good description about what the characters are wearing “He’s not tall, but he’s tall enough, and he’s really lean. Skinny, even, except that you get the sense that he could win any fight he started. He’s in a charcoal-gray V-neck, his skin pale in contrast” (Philips 81). The book has two different perspectives Nate and Cameron, which is nice because the reader can see how they both feel about certain situations.

Some people may not like this book though if they are not into complicated love and a lot of confusing situations. The characters are always thinking different things that the other characters do not get the hint of, for example, “He fell asleep while I was singing. I guess the delucet sounds of my voice lulled him into dreamland’. ‘Aww, lullabies for your lover.’ I make a growling noise. ‘I assure you, it was strictly professional.” That can be confusing because the reader may think they do like each other, but Cameron is saying the opposite. If the reader does not mind confusing love, Cinderella and music then this is a great book to read.
