I work in a school where restorative practices are being practiced and different methods of motivation are being used. What do you feel are the best ways to implement restorative practices and promote motivation (specifically intrinsic motivation) in the most unmotivated student?

A way that my school is currently working with students who lack motivation is to make connections with them. Teachers need to make more connections with students than just saying good morning. I was listening to a co-teacher of mine and she said "Be real with your students. They know when you are being fake." We are also working harder with the positive reinforcement that we provide.

I recently observed a public high school program for students who struggle with the school "game". Due to numerous reasons, they are habitually late, absent, and have abysmal grades. In this program, the students have more freedom in the time for school and their schedule and much of the course work is online. These students are earning credits and feeling successful in school often for the first time.
