· What are the challenges associated with building relationships for information literacy programming and teaching?

o One of the main challenges in building relationships for information literacy programming and teaching is communication, particularly around setting realistic expectations. It can be difficult to convey how much time and effort is required to design an effective class. This often leads to misunderstandings or underestimations by stakeholders, whether they are faculty, administrators, or community members, which can hinder collaboration and the overall success of the program.

· What are the benefits?

o The benefits of building strong relationships for information literacy programming include getting everyone on the same page, which ensures that goals and expectations are clearly understood. This alignment makes collaboration smoother and more effective. Additionally, open communication channels allow for continuous feedback, which can lead to ongoing improvements in the program, making it more responsive to the needs of the participants.

· How do the challenges and benefits differ by library type (academic, school, public)?

o The challenges and benefits of building relationships for information literacy programming can vary by library type due to differences in how well everyone is on the same page. In academic libraries, faculty and librarians might have different expectations about the depth of instruction needed. In school libraries, there may be challenges in getting teachers and administrators to fully recognize the value of information literacy. Public libraries face the challenge of engaging in diverse audience with varying levels of interest and understanding. In each case, the success of the program depends on how effectively these differing perspectives are aligned.
