The first one was Matthias Schleiden, he was a botanist (a plant’s scientist), he liked to study his plants under a microscope. After years of studying his plants he discovered that every single plant he had looked at were made of cells. On the other side of Germany, Theodor Schwann, a scientist who not only studied slides of animal cells under a microscope, and got a  special type of nerve cell named after him, but also invented rebreathers for firefighters. After studying animal cells for a while he had the too the conclusion that all animals were made of cells. He send an email (not like the ones we send now a days, he sent letters) to scientists who were working in the same field, between them was  Schleiden, and both start to work together on the beginnings of the cell theory. They had a disagreement between them because Schleiden thought that cells just appeared, but Schawnn thought that they needed from other cell to reproduce.
