My students have come to love the learning centers!  They look forward and even moan when it is time to stop.  I have 11 centers going on and the students are in pairs working independently  while I pull small groups at the back table.  It was hard at the beginning due to constant interruptions and because it was a new concept for them and me but I continued and I am happy I didn't give up.

She wants to touch the moon and after many tries she finally succeeds. I asked my students to write about something they want to do. Their responses were very thoughtful and they demonstrated how deeply they had thought about the story and themselves. I was waiting for a think and and pair and wanted to do it about one sentence before she did. It was a good reminder of how to strategically stop and then resume a story so that meaning isn't lost as skills are taught. The art of good teaching.

It was difficult at first because I was trying to do it all in one day. Now it takes us a little longer because we take one part per day (orientation, complication & orientation) each part is done in a different color. It has also, helped students in their independent  writing.
