This was an interesting session. We learned how to make podcasts and came up with our own ideas for possible podcasts. I'd like to actually follow up on my idea and make one. I also wonder if a podcast could be a way for Moreland students to engage in self-reflection.
Mission: Encourage teacher reflection and collaboration (interviews with teachers)
Title of Podcase: We are learned what to do, but what are we actually doing. Admitting wrongs on our paths to rights.
Episode 1: "I failed one once when I shouldn't have."
Episode 2: "I'm swamped. It's time to prioritize.
Episode 3: "I'm not biased, but sometimes I am: A few strategies"

Gamification

This was a great session. Much of it was not what I would consider applicable to what we do at Moreland, however I learned some excellent lessons. One thing I learned is that utilizing games causes candidates to look at failure in a different way. Game Over=Try again with more experience. This sounds like a simple concept, but upon deeper reflection it is clear that gamification can help model and lead to a growth mindset. I had never thought of this before.
We also explored the type of learners that appreciate games (for different reasons) socializer, explorer, rebel, achiever.
I was challenged and inspired to learn to create games to use in break out rooms to challenge and inspire candidates to grasp the content and strengthen the learning experience by utilizing the 21st century skills required to be successful.
Fayth
