Throughout time women wanted to have the same amount of rights that any man has. But though history women were discriminated because they  "couldn't" do the things a man can do. So during the 1970's many Americans were fighting for the expansion of social and political rights. For the event of The Watergate Scandal that involved President Nixon was shown that he was very distressed during his term after the election. He then started to become wary to anyone that apposed his authority. Then from hat my research had stated, "he resented any challenge to his authority and approved of attempts to discredit those who opposed him."
