One day, while the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was sitting with his companions, a man with extremely white clothes and very black hair appeared. There were no signs of travel on him, and none of the companions knew him. The man sat directly in front of the Prophet, with his knees touching the Prophet's knees, and placed his hands on the Prophet's thighs. He then began to ask a serious questions which is about;

1. Islam

2. Iman (Faith)

3. Ihsan (Excellence in Worship)

4. The Hour (Day of Judgment)

After these questions, the man left, and the Prophet asked Umar if he knew who the questioner was. Umar replied that Allah and His Messenger know best. The Prophet then informed him that the man was the Angel Jibril (Gabriel) who came to teach them their religion.

This hadith is significant because it outlines the fundamental aspects of Islam—faith (Iman), practice (Islam), and spiritual excellence (Ihsan)—and it emphasizes the importance of these pillars in the life of a Muslim.

• Belief in Allah as the only God, without partners or equals.

• Believing Allah created and controls everything in the universe.

• Worship only Allah alone

• Rejecting the worship of anything or anyone alongside Him (Shirk).

Believe in malaikat

• Messengers of Allah

• Angels are intermediaries between us and Allah

Eg:They deliver revelations to the prophets, record human deeds, and perform other duties like protecting and guiding people, all according to Allah’s will.

• The creation of angels demonstrates the greatness of Allah.

Believe in Kitab

• put faith in the scriptures revealed by Allah

• eg; zabur, taurat, injil, al-quran

• believing that the scripture is preserved

• quran has been divinely protected from any alteration or corruption

Ihsan is often described as worshipping Allah as if you see Him, even though you do not see Him, knowing that He sees you.This make our iman obedience more intense.

the concept of ihsan is deeply reflected in the lives of the prophets nuh, prophet musa and prophet ibrahim. their stories in the quran highlight how they demonstrated ihsan in their devotion in Allah despite immense challenges.

1. Prophet Nuh

• ihsan through patience and sincerety even though his people rejected and mocked him for hundred years

2. Prophet Ibrahim

• absolute devotion to Allah which is his efforts to destroy idols , reflect his ihsan. his mission was carried out with sincerety and selflessness.

3. Prophet Musa

• Spiritual Excellence in Communication with Allah. His direct communication with God on Mount Sinai (Jabal Musa) and his reverence during this interaction show his Ihsan in how he approached his Lord, seeking spiritual perfection in his devotion.

Ihsan also known as ihsan towards the creature of Allah such as animals, mankind and so on

In conclusion, Islam is gateway to ihsan.

I and my group members divided the works fairly and all of my group members contributed in this roleplay.

Hikmah refers to wisdom, which can be seen in how our niat (intention) shapes our amal (actions). The quality of an amal is determined by the niat behind it. A good niat reflects hikmah as it leads to positive actions and fosters ihsan—worshipping Allah sincerely with the awareness that even if we cannot see Him, we know He is always watching. This understanding encourages us to perform good deeds and avoid wrongdoing.

Performing salah (prayer) helps prevent immoral behavior and sin. This verse highlights that prayer strengthens a person’s spiritual connection with Allah and serves as a shield against wrongdoing.

Fasting is prescribed to cultivate taqwa (piety). The wisdom behind fasting is to develop self-restraint, mindfulness of Allah, and a deeper spiritual awareness through discipline and obedience.

During hajj (pilgrimage), believers are reminded to uphold good behavior, avoid disputes, and stay mindful of Allah. This verse emphasizes the importance of character refinement and maintaining piety during acts of worship.

Paying zakat (charity) purifies the wealth and souls of the giver. It fosters personal growth, spiritual purification, and strengthens communal bonds by helping those in need.

Ibadah not only establishes a connection with Allah but also purifies the soul, refines character, and promotes ethical behavior, discipline, and societal harmony.

▪︎ Use a Clean Prayer Mat: Ensure the mat is free from impurities and comfortable for prayer.

▪︎ Prepare early to avoid rushing such as get ready a few minutes before prayer time.

▪︎ Mentally remind yourself that you are standing before Allah.

▪︎ Avoid unnecessary move that cause discomfort to help focus on the spiritual aspect of solat.

Importance salah with khusyu'

☆It purifies the soul, removes sins, and provides an opportunity for repentance.

☆It aligns the body, mind, and spirit, allowing believers to find peace through reliance on Allah.

Achieving khusyu requires effort and consistency, such as understanding the meaning of the recitations, eliminating distractions, and remembering the significance of standing before Allah.

1. Spiritual Growth and Taqwa (God-Consciousness)

• Fasting is a means to attain Taqwa which is piety and awareness of Allah, as mentioned in the Quran:
  "O you who have believed, fasting has been prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you that you may attain Taqwa." (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:183)

• It strengthens faith by increasing devotion, prayer, and Quran recitation.

2. Self-Discipline and Patience

• Fasting teaches self-restraint from food, drink, and desires, fostering patience and control over impulses.

• It helps in overcoming bad habits such as excessive eating, gossip, and negative thoughts.

3. Gratitude and Appreciation

• Experiencing hunger makes one more appreciative of the blessings of food and drink, leading to increased gratitude toward Allah.

• It reminds people of those who are less fortunate, encouraging acts of charity and generosity.

• Fasting purifies the heart by reducing distractions and worldly indulgences.

• It enhances sincerity (Ikhlas) since fasting is a hidden act of worship, known only to the individual and Allah.

• The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:

• The reward for fasting is immense, as Allah says in a Hadith Qudsi:
  "Fasting is for Me, and I will reward it." (Bukhari, Muslim)

Fasting is not just an obligation but a powerful tool for self-improvement, spiritual purification, and strengthening one’s connection with Allah.

Thus, niyyah is the foundation of true ibadah, ensuring that every act is performed with sincerity and devotion to Allah.

Virtues of Zakat

1. Purification of Wealth and Soul – Zakat purifies one’s wealth and helps in detaching from materialism.

2. Obedience to Allah – It is a mandatory act of worship, reinforcing a Muslim’s submission to Allah.

3. Helping the Needy – Zakat ensures wealth is redistributed to the less fortunate, reducing economic disparity.

4. Increase in Blessings – Giving Zakat does not decrease wealth, rather, it brings barakah (blessings).

Virtues of Sadaqah

1. Protection from Hardships – Charity extinguishes sins and protects from misfortunes.

2. Continuous Rewards (Sadaqah Jariyah) – Some forms of charity provide ongoing rewards even after death.

3. Brings Divine Mercy and Forgiveness – Sadaqah is a means of gaining Allah’s mercy and expiation of sins.

4. A Sign of True Faith – Charity reflects sincerity, gratitude, and care for others, strengthening the community.

5. When we give Sadaqah in the form of money, Allah may reward us in different ways. It is not necessarily that He will replace it with money; instead, He might grant us blessings in other forms, such as good health, protection from harm, or unexpected opportunities. His rewards are beyond material wealth, encompassing both worldly and spiritual benefits.

This semester, Usrah has been more than just a class, it has been a space for personal growth, sisterhood, and deeper understanding of our deen. Through discussions, activities, and shared moments, I have gained valuable insights that have shaped my perspective as a Muslim.

I hope this e-portfolio captures the essence of my experiences and serves as a reminder of the beautiful journey we embarked on together.

Alhamdulillah, I am truly grateful for the opportunity to be part of this Usrah. It has been a journey of learning, self-improvement, and spiritual growth.

• One of the most impactful lessons I learned is the importance of sincerity (ikhlas) in our intentions and actions. It reminded me that even small acts can be meaningful when done for Allah’s sake.

• I sometimes struggled with maintaining consistency in my ibadah, but the support and motivation from my Usrah group encouraged me to keep striving for improvement.

My wish

I wish that our connection could grow even stronger. True sisterhood in Islam is not just about gathering for discussions, but about being there for one another in every aspect of life spiritually, emotionally, and even in our daily struggles.

Suggestion for Improvement

1. Storytelling & Sharing Personal Experiences such as Use Islamic stories from the Quran, Hadith, or history and relate them to modern struggles.

I sincerely thank my Usrah mates and our naqibah for their support, wisdom, and kindness. May Allah bless us all and allow us to continue growing in our deen. Jazakumullahu khayran.
