2. My expectations of this class are to learn more about how politics work. I'm not much of a history or politics person, but I'd like to know more about it all. I expect to understand politics in a different way after this class and to know things about our government that I didn't know before.
3. My level of interest in the presidential election has definitely dropped off. I hate to even hear about it anymore. I have no idea who I would vote for because the way I see it, either candidate you vote for is a bad choice in my opinion. I see Trump being better than Hillary, then he does something to change my mind again. He is so crazy and I feel that he will actually start another war. But Hillary isn't any better, she is making promises that seem so unrealistic because of the type of candidate she is.

I thought that one of the comments made was so true and relatable being a female. She said that her nickname at Harvard was "bitch" and her response to that was "better to be a bitch than a mouse." I completely agree with that because at least she is making her mark and they are standing for their gender because it's so easy for people to downgrade women. I thought that overall the interview was very interesting because it covered the first women on the Supreme Court and how they have changed things for our world now.

1. I liked reading it better because I didn't feel like I could focus on what they were saying. Maybe if I could watch the video more than once it would be better, but by reading it I was able to go at my own pace and interpret it.
2. My favorite part of the Declaration of Independence is near the end when it says "in war we are enemies but in peace we are friends" because it just makes the most sense to me and we are stating that we are going to fight for our country but at the same time in peace we will be there for the other country.

I would most definitely support an amendment that would make flag burning unconstitutional because I think that even though we have freedom of speech and freedom to express how we feel, to burn the American flag is disrespecting the country that is giving you those rights. I think it is unconstitutional not only because it disrespects our country and what it stands for but it also disrespects the men and women who risk their lives to fight for us and our country.

I thought that the movie was interesting but I definitely didn't like the ending. I wish that we could see more of what happened after Smith faints and Senator Paine comes clean and tells the truth. I am glad that this happened because I hated how James Taylor was printing false information about Smith and how he was controlling the entire state. He was running a messed up situation where he pretty much was in charge and whatever he said, went. But Smith stood up for what was right and he never backed down until he physically couldn't stand anymore.

I think he belonged to the Republican Party and I think today he would also belong to the Republican party because he was standing up for the truth. He didn't try to say anything but the truth. Surprisingly I would say he would continue on in Politics, at first I would say no because he cared too much and he was so truthful which even though those are the kinds of people we want in our offices, we don't always get that so I thought he would be ran out like they were trying to do to him. But because he stood for what he believed and he finally won, I think that he will stay in politics.

3. Jefferson Smith v. Mark Kirk

I think that Jefferson Smith corresponds to Mark Kirk because they are both republicans in my eyes but they both have some democratic views. They both believe in the right thing and they stand up for what is right, not just what sounds good and what goes with the flow. They both have to fight against corruption once in the senate. Mark Kirk was in the navy and Jefferson Smith was a leader of the Ranger Boys and so they both had experience in order like that. Kirk has more of a political background whereas Smith did not but they both speak the truth.
http://www.wsj.com/articles/mark-kirk-faces-tough-re-election-fight-in-illinois-1474493155
