I already know the basic translations where I just change the language but the context remains the same. However the aspects I have learned today were more informative and detailed where I now know the term "source text" and "target text" , the origin of translation and the 3 categories of translation.It made me realize translation is much more than what I expect it to be.I would like to know more on how is translation applied in different countries or jobs to atleast get a new perspective.

I knew that translation is about converting text from one language to another and I was aware that there are different types od translation like translating between languages or rewording within the same language. During the lecture, I've learned that translation goes beyond then just words and with something called intersemiotic translation, where meaning is conveyed through nonverbal signs. It's also fascinating to see how translation has evolved from ancient Sumerian texts to modern machine translation and how it became an important field of study. Now I’m really curious about how technology like CAT tools and machine translation is changing the way translation works. I also want to understand how translators make sure that meaning stays the same across languages while still respecting cultural differences.

I did not know these before and now I know that the translations are differentiated by translating in the same language, between different languages and from words to visuals. my prior knowledge of translation before this session was pretty shallow to be honest but I do have a keen interest in history. I do know a couple of history mentioned in the videos provided such as the tower or babel and the Rosetta Stone. But I have no idea how it would tie back to translation.
