         <description><![CDATA[<p>Scenario 4: "The Authority Question"</p><p>Dr. Kim is a young female professor teaching her first online graduate course in computer science. During the first synchronous session, she notices several older male students, particularly those from countries with high power-distance cultures, addressing her as "Miss Kim" despite her introduction as "Dr. Kim." When discussing assignments, these same students frequently begin questions with phrases like "Don't you think it would be better if..." or "Perhaps you didn't consider..."</p><p>During the third week, Dr. Kim gives detailed feedback on a technical assignment to Rahul, pointing out several fundamental errors. Rahul immediately requests a meeting, during which he questions her expertise and mentions his "20 years of industry experience." He suggests that perhaps "in your country" the approach is different, but "in the real world" his solution is preferred. Dr. Kim later discovers Rahul has created a separate chat group where he's offering "corrections" to her lectures.</p><p>Meanwhile, several female students and students from backgrounds similar to Dr. Kim's are becoming increasingly silent in group discussions. One female student privately shares that she feels her contributions are being dismissed by certain classmates who immediately look to the older male students for validation of any technical points.</p><p>During the midterm project presentations, Dr. Kim notices students giving significantly more detailed and respectful responses to questions from male students compared to nearly identical questions she poses. The class dynamic is increasingly strained, with clear factions forming and participation becoming predictably divided along both gender and cultural lines.</p>]]></description>
