The video shows the children are engaged in the outdoor play. In the starting of the video, Grace was playing alone with the sand and later she noticed that everyone was playing with her caregiver and showed interest in joining them. She turns around holding a green plastic cup in her hand and puts some sand in the cup. She saw her friends enjoying the sand. Then she put the plastic cup on the side and used her hand to hold the sand. Again, she picks up the plastic cup and faces the educator. Her educator asked her “You want some”? Then Grace came near the educator and showed her cup to fill with sand. While I was observing she grabbed my attention because she was engaging well. She looks around and finds the place to put the sandcastle. Again, she turns towards the educator and fills a cup with sand. In this way, she engaged with other children to make sandcastles.

Opportunities and Possibilities

Grace's play is clearly and actively focused on the social and physical domains. By looking towards her we will provide her more opportunities to develop and practice these skills. We will engage with her and encourage her to explore different play scenarios. We can encourage her to express her ideas and thoughts as well as promote teamwork to collaborate in building sandcastle. To support her skills, we will add extra tools like buckets, different sand moulds having shapes, and shovels to enhance her hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. Moreover, we will let her explore sand with bare hands so that she will feel the texture.

Using Camera

For the documentation, we will use a camera as a reflective portion so that we can record their play activity. It helps to track a child’s developmental skills and interaction during play. It helps educators to reflect on teaching methods and helps to identify learning styles.

Taking Notes

In between observations writing some notes on children's spoken words helps educators provide insight and support the effectiveness of the learning. It makes it easier to note down a child’s own spoken words and their meaning. Also, it allows for early intervention when potential issues or challenges are identified.
