During my Year Seven History lessons, I have learned about some intriguing topics that include: Identifying Primary and Secondary Sources, The Roman Empire, Ancient Egypt, and The Tollund Man. As this is my first year with History within its curriculum, I didn’t know what to expect. But I found the variety of topics were enjoyable. Since august, I have picked up some useful skills. One of the most refined of these skills would be identifying primary versus secondary sources. I feel quite confident in this subject so far as I have been able to understand all of the topics. For my first year of History, I hoped that I would have done a bit better, but there are two more terms to redeem myself.

During my Year Seven English lessons, I have learned about the PEAL (Point - Evidence - Analysis - Link) structure to enhance writing. More recently, we have been analysing and creating emotion-filled speeches about problems such as bullying and discrimination. We have also dipped our feet (Metaphorically) into creative writing with our lessons involving the Indian city of Jaipur. Since august, I have acquired the skills to accurately use the PEAL structure in my writing, I have also learned how to effectively write persuasive speeches. Last year, I excelled in English, resulting in a Mastery. Although this year has been much more challenging, I am still happy with my grade of an S+. This is only the first term so I have the opportunity to receive a Mastery.

During my Year Seven Mathematics lessons I have learned a plethora of intriguing topics such as BIDMAS (Order of Operations), Angles in parallel lines, Area of Compound Shapes, Circumference + Radius + Diameter, Simplifying Expressions and more. Since august, I have learned some new skills like calculating the HCF and LCM between two numbers, this skill would be my most refined. Another skill that I have learned would be calculating the area of compound shapes, one of my favourite topics. Last year, I had achieved an S+ in Maths so I was pleasantly surprised when I had gotten a M for this term. This is only the first term so I'm really proud of myself.

During my Year Seven Rotations, I have learned an array of different topics and subjects, ranging from cross-contamination between food types to woodwork and structural integrity. During CS we have also learned about online safety. I have not received my Computational Thinking grade yet so I have put Computer Science instead. But during my CT lessons, I have learnt about algorithms and pattern recognition, those lessons were pretty enjoyable. Since august, I have learned many skills, of which the most refined would be woodworking in DT. This is demonstrated if you look at my achievement grades for the three subjects. I had DT lessons in Year 6, but those were more focused on 3D modelling and printing. I had some FT lessons as well, but those were not as complicated due to us staying in our form class. At parents evening, my DT teacher had given me highly positive feedback and had recommended me to start more 3D design on Fusion-360. I had already been interested in 3D design and 3D printing so this information will definitely be useful to me in the future. My goals to be an architect when I'm older will also be aided my this because I could recreate my sketches in 3D to visualise what they would look like. My grades so far aren't the worst, considering this is only term one. So all-in-all, I'm quite happy in my term one grades.

During my Year Seven Science lessons, I have learned about cells, forces, and mixtures (Solubility, Filtration/Separation). I have also had a wide variety of practical lessons that include using microscopes to observe onion cells, using chromatography to observe the dyes that go in colored markers, and dissecting a chicken wing to observe its muscles and ligaments. Since august I have gained the skills to accurately label cells and their organelles, identify the muscles and joints in a body and more. Last year, I had been very confident in Science and had achieved high marks. Given that this is only the first term, I believe that I can achieve high marks in the terms to come.

Target Grade for French and Spanish: M

During my Year Seven Languages lessons, I have learned about French and Spanish introductions, opinions, and hobbies. On my Spanish writing assessment I had received a Mastery score, 9/10. During Arabic lessons, I am learning about shopping and shopping experiences. Since august, I have retained the skills to converse "thorough" sentences in the respective languages for someone of my skill level. Last year, I had been in the top set class for arabic, this year I'm still in the top set. For my first term, I am satisfied with my grade of an S+. But moving forward, I am confident in my ability to achieve a Mastery.
