Students can work together in different groups in different levels. For example, the teacher can assign different students animals so they do not know if they are a higher or a lower level learner. This way, teacher can create homogenous and heterogenous groups based on students' interests.

Celebrating You!

In our classroom, we celebrate cultural backgrounds. Throughout the school year, there is a food fair where students create a project board about them and bring a little bit of home to school if they choose to do so. We can learn a little bit about all of our students by celebrating what makes them who they are!

CBL (Community- Based) Learning

Inviting community members into the learning and starting projects that implement different studies and benefit students. For example, students can work together with community members to create a garden to feed the elementary school.

Opening The Kitchen To You

Once a month, the school opens up the cafeteria to the families and community to show their background through family feast! They bring the food to share with everyone to share a little about them. This is also a conversation starter for students! They have a paper and they are encouraged to find 8 people and write one thing about them about why they brought the dish they made. The individual will initial the paper.

Parent's learn with Teachers!

Parents will attend workshops with teachers to grow into the cultural awareness for the school plus learning how they can best support their student. At this workshop, parents will break off into groups with teachers and play games to get comfortable. They will then learn about how they can successfully support their student with their teacher!

We love feedback around here, especially our families. Families can use Class Dojo to communicate with their teacher to best support their student, cultural impacts, and meet needs working proactively. We believe every voice will be heard no matter what.
